Heat Moulding

SOLE footbeds are heat mouldable, as well as wear mouldable. If you want to mould your footbeds quickly, or put them into shoes with extremely narrow heels, or have very flat feet, heat moulding is the way to go. Otherwise, wear moulding only takes a few days of use and is the simplest way to get a custom fit. If you have question about whether you should mould the footbeds or not, check out this post from our Customer Service Manager, Alyssa. All footbeds come with instructions and they can also be found on our Footbed Fitting Instructions page. It is basically a super simple, 3 step process:

  • Heat your new footbeds
  • Put them in your shoes
  • Stand in them until they cool down (about 2 minutes)

Misbehaving ovens

But, we still get customers who have had problems heating their footbeds. Sometimes, this is because someone wanders off to feed the dog and finds a disfigured lump of fabric and EVA an hour later... Other times your oven may actually be the culprit. Ovens and toaster ovens are not really made to work at temperatures below 300°F (150°C), so we find that they frequently will be much hotter than their setting indicates. We use a thermometer in our testing oven, and sometimes I have to sit there and adjust it back and forth to keep the temperature correct as I test new footbeds. Not the best part of my day...

Pay attention to the sticker

There is an easy fix for a misbehaving oven though - SOLE footbeds should never be heated for more than 3 minutes, and if the temperature indicator sticker goes black, pull 'em out! If your oven is too hot, just watch the temperature indicator and remove the footbeds when it says to do so.

Guarantee

If your oven eats your footbeds or some other mishap occurs, remember we have a 90 day guarantee on all of our products!

Wear mouldable footwear

Since you love our insoles so much, you may have decided to purchase some Flips or Exhale's, but remember, these are wear mouldable, so you can put them on and bask in comfort immediately, no oven needed!
