Jordan's 7 Summits Quest Continues

Several months ago, I introduced you to Jordan Romero, SOLE sponsored athlete, and his quest to summit the tallest mountains on each continent (the 7 Summits) – before the age of 15. Can't remember that post? Click here to read more. The following highlights the 6 summits Jordan has conquered, his age and the continent on which each mountain is found:

• Kilimanjaro, Tanzania, Africa: July 2006 – Age 10
• Mount Kosciuszko, Australia: April 2007 – Age 11
• Mount Elbrus, Russia, Europe: July 2007 – Age 11
• Aconcagua, Argentina, South America: Dec 2007 – Age 12
• Mount McKinley, Alaska, North America: June 2008 – Age 12
• Carstenz Pyramid, Indonesia, Oceania: September 2009 – Age 13

As I write this, Jordan is on the North side of Mount Everest, regrouping at the Advanced Base Camp – with father, Paul Romero and Paul's partner Karen Lundgren – acclimatizing himself in an effort to conquer Mount Everest. They are at 21,000 feet and within the next 3 weeks, are expected to reach over 29,000 feet at Everest's summit.

While this may sound ludicrous to some of you readers out there, I would implore you to learn more about Jordan. Rather than focusing on his age, focus on his character. Over the past 5 years, here is what I have come to know and love about Jordan:

• He's determined
• He is aware of his own limitations
• He's incredibly introspective
• He's focused
• He's playful: he loves to do card tricks and beat box
• He has a solid 5'5” frame and is in incredible shape
• He's sensitive
• He's intelligent
• He “reads” people well
• He's got great hair (not important, I know, but certainly worth mentioning)

CBS, BBC, The Globe & Mail, ABC and countless other media have reported on and interviewed Jordan, Karen and Paul in an effort to get to know Jordan. I encourage you to do the same. Visit jordanromero.com to learn more about this young guy who summits big mountains.

It is a personal choice whether you agree or disagree with a 13-year-old summiting mountains. In the same way, Jordan has made an informed, educated, personal choice with advice from knowledgeable people who love him. Because when he sets his mind to something, he sets out to achieve it, albeit one small step at a time.
