One of the best ways to become more sustainable is to simply reduce the raw material being used, which also reduces energy consumption when shipping the goods. We hang our flips and socks from recycled paperboard hangers. Our paperboard packaging uses 100% recycled (90-100% post-consumer), non-bleached, kraft paper. No foils or coatings that hinder recycling are used. We are working to use vegetable-based inks in the near future.

FOOTBED PACKAGING
Our footbed packaging is as minimal as we could get without compromising strength and quality. We use a combination of post-consumer materials and post-industrial wood flour. This makes the bio-composite plastic parts non-recyclable, but making these parts out of 35-40% natural, sustainable material that can be regrown, versus a petroleum by-product, is worth it. We pioneered the use of paper-based strings so our hang tags can be placed in paper recycling without having to remove plastic "strings."

FOOTWEAR PACKAGING
Our shoe boxes are made with 100% recycled, non-bleached, kraft cardboard. No foils or coatings that hinder recycling are used. The box is designed to be reversible, featuring an attractive designer print on the inside, so it can be re-used for an abundance of different purposes once its life as a shoe box is over.

SANDAL PACKAGING
When we designed the packaging for the SOLE Sport Flips, we decided to use no box at all. Even though they are premium footwear, the box is unnecessary, adds empty space when shipping and usually ends up in a landfill. Instead, we use a 100% recycled, 100% post-consumer paperboard hanger. Our Sport and Casual sandals ship individually bagged, inside recycled cardboard cartons that maximize space and reduce shipping waste. A hanger for the Sport Slides is also currently under development.

SOCK PACKAGING
Our sock packaging keeps things simple. We used the same 100% recycled paperboard as our footbed and sandal packaging. One of the best ways to make packaging more sustainable is to simply reduce it.
